In addition to the numerous protests following the suicide of Rohith Vemula, JNUSU organised a ‘mashaal juloos’ from Ganga Dhaba to the Administration Building on Monday evening calling off the on-going hunger strike.
The move was taken on account of the decisions made by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in Hyderabad to call off the same. Those present also made their displeasure felt at the recent lathi-charge by Delhi police on students protesting outside the RSS headquarters and the appointment of former University of Hyderabad VC Appa Rao Podile as the Chairperson of the National Council of Rural Institutes (NCRI) in Hyderabad.
“This is not the end and the protests will continue,” asserted JNUSU General Secretary Rama Naga. The further proceedings of the protest will go hand in hand with call for demonstrations in Delhi- ‘Chalo Dilli’ by UoH students which according to latest reports have been postponed to 10 February 2016.
