SES, SCMM Racket Their Way to Victory in Inter-School Badminton Tournament

1 February 2016 – An inter-school badminton competition was held in the Student Activity Centre (Teflas) by JNU’S Badminton Club from 29th to 31st January.

The badminton competition was organized into male and female categories, with seven schools registered for the men’s team and four schools registered for the women’s.

The teams were as follows:

MEN’S TEAM
SLS – School of Life Sciences
SES – School of Environmental Sciences
SSS – School of Social Sciences
SIS – School of International Studies
SBT – School of Bio-technology
SL– School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies
CSLG– Centre for the Study of Law and Governance

WOMEN’S TEAM
SBT – School of Bio-technology
SES – School of Environmental Sciences
SCSMM – Special Centre of School Of Molecular Medicine
CSLG – Centre for the Study of Law And Governance

After three days of intense matches, the School of Environmental Sciences (SES) was declared the winner and the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies (SL) was the runner-up in the men’s section. In the women’s section, the Special Centre of Molecular Medicine (SCMM) was announced the winner and the Centre for the Study of Law and Governance (CSLG) was the runner-up.

In the men’s final held on 31st January, both singles and doubles matches were held between SES and SL. SES proved to be the distinguished victor. In the singles games, SES won both the sets by 22–20 and 21–8 and in the doubles SES continued to win both by 21–18 and 21–11, respectively.

In the women’s final both the singles and doubles matches were held between CSLG and SCMM, and SCMM was the star on the women’s side. SCMM won the singles matches by 21–3 and 21–2 and continued to win the doubles matches by 22–20 and 21–14.

 

The detailed results are as follows.

For Men –
SES (Winner) Players – Anurag Choudhary, Manish Kumar, Arindan Mandala and Praveen Rai.
SL(Runner Up) Players – Ankit Kumar, Shahbaz Ansari, Aditya Singh and Ashish Kumar.

For Women –
SCMM(Winner) Players – Swati Sharma and Khadija Banu.
CSLG (Runner Up) Players – Noopur Maurya and Nanuma Subba.

 

The entire event was organized by Vikram Singh (ADBP), Ravindra Singh, and Anurag Choudhary as the Conveners . Rajesh Soami and Manish Sharma also helped in organizing the competition.
