8 March 2016 is International Women’s Day and we are looking forward to a number of events happening on and around the campus, to celebrate women power. On the campus, we have:
Centre for Women’s Studies is organizing a panel discussion on ‘Transformations: Gender and Art’ at 3 pm, at SSS-I Auditorium. The panellists include Sreejata Roy, Mehneer Sudan, Aryakrishnan Ramakrishnan and Rojio Usham, who will discuss women agency, creativity and transgression through art.
GSCASH’s “Women’s Day March” from Ganga Dhaba to Chandrabhaga at 9:00 PM.
Nationalism lecture on ‘At the limits of post-colonial nationalism’ by Suvir Kaul.
SAA is hosting a talk by Aarti Wani, Department of English, Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, she will discuss her new book Fantasy of Modernity: Romantic Love in Bombay Cinema of the 1950s, published by Cambridge University Press. The author will be in conversation with Ira Bhaskar, at 6 pm, at the SAA Auditorium.
CWAS, SIS and Women Unlimited are organizing an event ‘Interaction with Palestinian Poets and Writers’ at 3 pm, on 11 March 2016. Mourid Barghouti Adaina Shibli and Mahmoud Muna will interact with students and faculty.

Naatya Katha – ‘Stree’ will be presented by Padma Vibhushan Smt. Sonal Mansingh on 8 March, at IHC, at 7 pm. There are also a Bharatanatyam performance by Smt. Soundarya Srivastha and a Kathak recital by Shri Kadam and Smt. Raina Parikh on the next day.
Listen to inspiring stories by women from different walks of life in ‘She Speaks’ being organized by Aambra Foundation, at 12 noon, at Hansraj College Auditorium, North Campus Delhi.
The ‘Aath March, Saath March’, #8MarDelhi16 by Feminism in India, from Connaught Place (Gather near Gate 3 and 4 of Rajiv Chowk metro station) at 10:30 am.

Instituto Cervantes Nueva Delhi is hosting an event at 6:30 pm, celebrating the life of Frida Kahlo, Saint Theresa of Jesus and Juana La Loca through photography, film and theatre.
Catch the final day, of the 5-days long Film Festival at The American Center, from 2 pm. The films being screened are Trials of Spring (2 pm) and I am a Girl (4 pm).
