22 August 2016 | Monday: As a symbolic end to the ‘Fortnight Celebration of 70th Anniversary of Independence’, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers today conducted a Tiranga March at 9:00 AM this morning, which started from the Administration Building and moved towards the schools.

Around fifty students and teachers across Schools and Centres participated in the march, enthusiastically marching with tricolour flags of all sizes and intermittently sloganeering in patriotic fervour.

Mr Anil Kumar Singh, Coordinator, NSS-JNU, started the event with a speech in which he talked about the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and its initiative of inculcating nationalism amongst the younger generations of India. He reminded the students and teachers that the flag is a symbol of national pride and that it gives us an identity no matter where we are.

Vice Chancellor, Mr Jagadesh Mamidala, in his short speech emphasised on the fact that the Tiranga March reflects the spirit of India. He thanked the students and teachers who  had gathered for the March.

The March ended at administration building at 10:30am, after which students moved for their classes.
