“Non-cooperation mein jaayenge” Declares JNUSU President

14 October 2016| 2:00 PM : Around 200 students gathered at Ad block today to join JNUSU’s protest call against the string of show cause notices issued by the administration to the students on various occasions.

Representatives from JNUSU started the protest demo by sloganeering. It was followed by a speech by JNUSU President who informed the students about the blatant insensitivity displayed by the administration and its incompetence in addressing students issues. It was announced that the repeated attempts of the admin to subdue the voice of resistance by issuing show cause notices will not be tolerated.

He later announced that it is high time that an adequate response be given to the threats by the admin. The President declared that students will no longer answer any show cause notice, and go ahead with a complete “non-cooperation movement” since the administration has completely failed the students in all fronts; having said this he along with the Gen Sec Satarupa burnt the show cause notices sent by the Proctor.

Earlier, notices were issued from the Proctor’s Office to Karthik and Om Prakash for pitching tents “illegally” at Mahi Mandavi and later at the Ad block. After which, Abdul Matin of YFDA, Manikanta and Pravin of BAPSA and Rama Naga of AISA also received a notice from the Proctor’s Office for burning an effigy of Gujarat state government. JNUSU too was served a notice for putting up posters at the Ad block calling students for a ‘sit-in vigil.’The other faction that was granted a notice was NSUI, who in protest against the growing intolerance burnt effigies of the PM, Sadhavi Pragya, Baba Ramdev, Yogi Adityanath and others on the eve of Dussehra.

The protest demo saw representatives from the major political parties addressing the crowd gathered, and speaking in support of JNUSU’s defiance against the admin.

The demand for reduction in the viva voce for OBC students will be strengthened in the coming AC Meeting on 20 October 2016 said the President. The Union has asked for more posters at the Ad block. “Notice ke dam par activism band karna chahte hai,”said the President, “hum apki politics se agree nahin karte hai….” He further announced, another effigy of the VC shall be burnt at the Sabarmati dhaba.
